1949 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe

Yes, an original "Mayland Black" car!

This is an excellent example of a well cared for cosmetically "stock" '49 Deluxe. Finished in the original "385" code of Mayland Black and the code "150" Gray Striped Pile Fabric interior just the way she rolled out of the Norwood, Ohio assembly plant, you'll feel very nostalgic when you sit behind the wheel! This is a pure American built automobile from a time when you could buy a gallon of gas for 26 cents, a house for $14,500, a loaf of bread for 14 cents, the stock market was hovering around 200 and the average annual salary was $3,600!

In 1949, power was delivered by an inline 216 CID 6 cylinder valve in head engine producing 90HP (before the performance enhancements mentioned below!), coupled to a three speed transmission. The DeLuxe models had nicer, two tone interior dash panels with more options for seat material. The gauges for all models included water temperature, charging system indicator and oil pressure. Other features of the Deluxe that were not included with the Special were dual sun visors, a clock, front ash tray with cigarette lighter automatic glove box light, door operated dome light, rear ash tray, arm rest front and rear plus sound absorbing head liner. A special feature was a new flow through ventilation system. The new system drew air from behind the grill area on the left and right sides giving a nice breeze when driving. This has the optional heater and defroster.

Restoration work on this beauty has been done with great care to keep the original appearance from the factory and dealer showroom. The paint is very nice overall as is the chrome and bright work with only minor blemishes expected with careful storage and light use. The undercarriage and frame are exceptionally clean. Mechanically, it is stated by our seller to be "turn key" ready. The engine is believed to be the original inline 216 cubic inch, but this one has the performance enhancements of a Fenton Exhaust Manifold, dual carbs and dual exhaust. The "three on the tree" remains true to original. The original radio is factory correct , but has given up its audio capability to a cassette player mounted under the dash. You have to love the wide whitewalls and stock wheels with original caps and trim rings, and check out the bottom of the chromed horn ring on the steering wheel with "Chevrolet" stamped into it!

Our seller owned a car "just like this one" as a young man and as a collector of numerous very interesting cars over the years, this one has been a favorite of his. Personal health considerations is the reason for sale at this time.
This is a very cool "ready for show or drive" collectable that is SO affordable!
